Pursuant to contributing to the development of youths in Africa through Basketball, Jordan Nwora of the Milwaukee Bucks will be organizing Elite Basketball Camps under the auspices of the Jordan Nwora Foundation between 24th March – 29th April, 2021. The Camps will be held with the endorsement of the National Basketball Federations of Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Benin and Ghana, with support from State Associations within their ambit. FIBA Africa and FIBA Africa Zone 3 will be supporting the Camps, powered by Adidas, which will be supplying the Kits and the Samaritan’s Feet, which has donated shoes for the Programme. The Jordan Nwora Foundation is also excited to be collaborating with the Management of Abidjan “Fighters” Basketball Club, Nigerian Basketball Federation, Adamu Yola Ture and Hon. Tony Nwora Foundations, that will be supporting the Camps in Abidjan, Abuja, Gombe and Onitsha, respectively.
100 Campers (60 Males & 40 Females) within ages 14-18 years will be admitted at each center and Camps will be conducted by top International FIBA Coaches from across Africa and the collegiate ranks. The coaches will strive to push participants to the next level of their basketball careers through intense and detailed approaches related to the training and tactics of the game. Coaches will also focus on individual player weaknesses through intense skill workouts and performance training, amongst others. The Camps will encourage participants to focus on educational pursuit and also learn essential Life Skills involving interpersonal communication skills, leadership and Information management, as well as other nutritional values that will help them as athletes in the long run. Based on their improvement during the Camps, players will be selected for an All-Star Game and a Most Valuable Player Award will be given to the best player at each venue. All Camps will be held in adherence to the FIBA Covid-19 protocols.
As part of Jordan Nwora Foundation’s efforts towards Humanitarian Aid, there will be a visit to an orphanage by its representative and some of the campers and coaches during which the team will donate clothing accessories and educational materials to the orphans, a way of showing support to the less privileged in our society.
